Get ready to enjoy a full weekend of fun for the whole family at South Bank this bank holiday weekend, where the National Theatre have taken over the river bank to bless us with an amazing array of live music, theatre and performances for this year’s annual River Stage Festival. Across the weekend you can expect immersive readings, powerful solo performances, contemporary dance, imaginative theatre for the kids, some brilliant brass band bangers, and even some disco on the decks from DJs Dom and Joe.
The special event happens on Sunday night, where the crowds will gather for a one-off outdoor screening of the National Theatre’s Twelfth Night. Tamsin Greig will play Malvolia in a theatrical twist on Shakespeare’s renowned comedy of mistaken identity and unrequited love. Experience something unique
Wayne McGregor’s +/- Human @ Roundhouse
Chalk Farm Road
Until 28 August
Want to experience something totally unique this August bank holiday weekend? +/- Human is an incredible immersive installation currently showing at the Roundhouse, coupled with a live dance experience that comes together to create something you’ll have never experienced before. The innovative exhibition has been brought together by multi award-winning choreographer, Wayne McGregor, in partnership with contemporary art collective Random International, creators of the globally successful Rain Room.
Whilst the installation runs right through until Monday 28th August, you’ll need to earmark your Friday or Saturday night this bank holiday weekend in order to experience one of the live dance performances. The installation itself is made up of a flock of spheres that surround you, interacting with you to explore the meeting of technology, bodies and electronic music. Featuring performers from The National Ballet, the dance then takes place within the installation, creating an atmosphere that carries you on a journey through the worlds of humans and technology together.
