Best blogs of the week
Yes London! It’s Friday, the weekend is looking set to be an absolute scorcher and there’s the whopping great Olympic closing ceremony to look forward to on Sunday!
To send you on your merry way, we’ve picked our favourite articles from the web and placed them right here for you to look at.
We read with much fascination Londoneer‘s recent piece on the rather bizarre Military and Flying Machines Show at Damyns Hall Aerodrome. No, this isn’t a relaxing day out at your local air show – it’s more akin to the film set of Platoon. There’s gunfire, smoke and trenches, as members of the Essex contingent of the Military Vehicles Trust get to grips with re-enacting various conflicts from years gone by in a farmer’s field, and fascinated spectators look on.
With a “dizzying array of jeeps, half-tracks, tanks and trucks and several flying circuits from a Lancaster bomber” for anyone with a hankering for military history, guns and costume, this event is a must-visit.
Moving away from the customary blog format for a second, we thought a nudge towards The Telegraph‘s ‘Pictures of the day‘ was needed. From floods to cheetahs, floating coffins to Olympic tears, this collection of 35 pictures from around the world makes for some superb reading.
We’ll let the images do the talking…
And finally we’ve got a great article from Cool on Demand to share with you. Thursdays in Camden have seen a bit of a renaissance in recent weeks, with the launch of The Night Market giving Londoners a chance to experience the very best that Camden Lock Market has to offer every Thursday from 6pm – 10pm.
If you’ve previously given Camden a big fat red light (admittedly weekends are a nightmare as you fight your way through the throngs of jabbering tourists), then why not give this weekly event a chance and rekindle your love for the area?
Exuding a titillating magic, The Night Market is the perfect way to spend your Thursday evening; sip a cold beer by the lock, browse the stalls without jostling for every square in inch of pavement and tuck into the tasty array of food on offer! Let Cool on Demand swing your decision…

I should just mention how disturbing it was in some respects – despite knowing that they’re probably just blokes from Essex, walking between groups of German soldiers made me shiver!
