Over the past three years, the former Athletes’ Village in Stratford has gone from being home to some of the world’s best sporting heroes, to one of London’s most stylish residential postcodes. Now, with a brand new café open for business, it’s also set to be the place to get a delicious plate of Italian grub!
Pasticceria and bakery Signorelli opened its doors in East Village last month. Offering sweet and savoury dishes, brilliant breads and excellent coffee throughout the day, this is certainly a spot worth waking up for!
Signorelli was founded by 29-year-old Alberto, who has a passion for both agronomy (the science of crop production) and baking. His attentiveness to the origin of the ingredients he uses gives his menu that fresh authentic Italian taste. Open for your morning coffee right through to an evening drink, this makes for the perfect addition to East Village’s ever-growing collection of independent retailers.
Owner Alberto said: “I would describe us as an artisan bakery and coffee shop that evolves into your neighbourhood bar for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles.”
Expect everything from mini pizzetas to healthy freshly tossed salads. And for those worried about their own rising muffin tops, all recipes here are low in salt and sugar and use less butter and wheat – meaning there’s a little less guilt in every bite!
Once you’ve decided which deli counter delight to go
for, baristas will serve you cups of smooth coffee to soak up the dough. Or if you’re in the market for something a little harder than a coffee, Prosecco cocktails are also on the menu and go down a treat with the many pastries and bakes available!
Signorelli has only just launched, but the future of this little bakery and coffee shop is already looking bright. Stop by to try it for yourself – from the end of September they’ll be opening later on Fridays and Saturdays so you can toast the weekend with a Prosecco cocktail!
