Following an incredible event last year, The Great Get Together is back this month to kickstart a fantastic summer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. On Sunday 18th June, bring your friends, family and neighbours down to the park for a mammoth picnic in celebration of bringing everybody together as one big community. The Great Get Together is part of a nationwide event in partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation.

Not only does this year’s event fall on Father’s Day, but we also live in a city with an array of diverse communities, and The Great Get Together is the perfect excuse to bring our families together and celebrate all that we have in common! Come to Olympic Park from 12pm on 18th June and you will find a host of entertainment for all of the family, including a stage hosting a variety of performances throughout the afternoon; dance, music, African drumming, Newham Community Choir, Stratford Poetry and many more local performers are lined up! There will also be a storytelling tent, hosted by Stratford Library and Discover Storytelling Centre, with a range of interactive storytelling sessions as well as various arts and crafts activities and plenty of other acts; stilt walkers, circus-style performers and more.
As for the food, feel free to bring along a homemade picnic or you can treat yourself with the worldwide street food stalls that will be there on the day, including: Eve’s Caribbean Kitchen, Nonno Luigi’s Pizza, Babur Indian, Akindo Japanese and more!
Finally, it’s time to burn off your big lunch with some action on the 60m athletic track which will be hosting an egg and spoon race, sack races, father’s races and more.
The Great Get Together is a free, family-friendly event that will take place on Sunday 18th June at 12pm in Olympic Park.
