Originally built to facilitate the distribution of coal from the north-east and Yorkshire to London in the 1850’s, Coal Drops Yard is being reinvented into a fashionable shopping district for 2018 and we can’t wait! The plan is to move over 50 stores, cafes and restaurants to these Victorian brick arches in King’s Cross to bring together industrial heritage with contemporary design. Let’s take a closer look at what this will offer…

Coal Drops Yard will be looking beautiful as it has many designers behind it’s renovation. British designer Tim Dixon has teamed up with Chef Assaf Granit to open Coal Office, a restaurant serving contemporary, inventive Middle Eastern cuisine. There will also be a plethora of other eateries and café’s on offer. The taste of Spain will be coming to King’s Cross in the form of Barrafina, along with a gorgeous new wine bar on the terrace called The Drop and Mexican Restaurant – Casa Pastor.
Redemption Roasters, a coffee shop with a difference, will also be calling the Coal Drop Yard home. This coffee shop supports young offenders by training them in roasting and barista skills in HM Prison Aylesbury, and gives them a job within their chain of coffee shops with the aim of successfully reintegrating them into society.
