To give you a flavour of what you can expect, restaurants such as Roka, a glitzy fine-dining Asian restaurant, to Vanilla Black, a unique vegetarian eatery, will all be part of the festival. Amongst the eating there will be cookery classes, talks, and boozy sessions. Each day is split up into lunch and dinner sittings and you can book your tickets here.
13th June – 8th October
Tate Modern, Bankside, SE1 9TG
International female artist, Fahrelnissa Zeid, exhibits vibrant abstract paintings inspired by her Islamic, Byzantine, Arab, Persian and European influences in this extensive curation of some of her most monumental paintings. Zeid studied in Paris and Istanbul and quickly became an important figure in the Turkish avant-garde group in the 1940’s. A decade later her name was cemented as one of the greatest female artists of the 20th century. This exhibition at the Tate Modern will focus on Zeid’s obsession with line and dazzling colour in the first major retrospective of her work. Book your tickets to experience Zeid’s eclectic exhibition here.
World Naked Bike Ride
It’s back and it’s exactly what it says on the tin as people mark the day by gathering (yes, naked!) in protest against car culture, whilst celebrating cycling and the human body itself. With carnival vibes, body paint and a whole community of fellow cyclists all out in force, are you ready to brave it, join in and bare all?! Whether you want to free yourself and ride in the buff or simply go and support those taking part, just don’t forget your sun screen!
