London Line-Up: April

The warm weather is fast approaching and with the arrival of April comes a new selection of happenings to get stuck into. We have a range of events coming up for you this month which include food, coffee and fitness festivals, art exhibitions and a vintage fair. So, grab your diary and pour yourself a refreshing spring drink because this month will definitely be jam packed!

London Coffee Festival
Friday 7th- Sunday 9th April
Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, E1 6QR 

Two weeks to go until the UK’s largest London Coffee Festival returns with an even bigger coffee selection. The festival will be celebrating the city’s vibrant coffee culture with live music, lectures and demonstrations from baristas, and will also feature speciality coffee, tea and artisan food to flavour your weekend. On the 7th April, there will be an Espresso Martini Launch party with Norman Jay set to headline. To bag yourself cheaper tickets and plan your day, book here.

The UK’s most famous affordable vintage fair is back and opens its doors in Bethnal Green. With over 50 stalls packed with vintage fashion, collectables, homeware and accessories you are sure to pick yourself up a bargain. Remember this place is cash only so make sure you pre-plan your trip and get to a cash point to avoid the long queues near the venue. Under 12s go free but, everyone else, book your £3 earlybird entry here.

Uniqlo has partnered up with Tate Modern to give you an unforgettable experience at the gallery – after hours! You can enjoy a mix of art, film, music, talks and workshops by night, with various food and drink on offer throughout the evening. The programme for April has not yet been released, but to get a feel of what you can expect at Tate Lates take a look at the March programme here. No need to book, just pop down for a night to remember!

Shrek’s Adventure: Easter Egg Hunt

 This Easter, Dreamworks Tours is launching an Easter Egg Hunt like never before. Combinging two family favourites, Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon, guests will be given a special challenge as you search for rare Dragon eggs during the Shrek Tour in Far Far Away. At the end, the kids will be given a reward for their hard work finding these rare eggs and will see a dragon emerge from its egg! Cheese and Wine Festival
1st April 12am-6pm & 2nd April 11am-4pm
East Village, Victory Parade, E15 2ER 

Over the first weekend of April, the neighbourhood of East Village will be transformed into a cheese and wine haven. London’s first ever FREE cheese and wine festival will showcase the very best of artisan cheese and wine from over 25 independent sellers. There will be an abundance of free events and demonstrations including cheese sculpting, tastings, and talks with cheese fanatics – including The Great British Bake Off contestant Tom Gilliford. Get down on the 1st and 2nd April to get your cheese fix whilst browsing around East Village’s independent bars, cafés, restaurants and shops. See the festival schedule in full here.

Working in conjunction with the festival, Tina We Salute You, E20, are hosting an epic three-course cheese feast created by Feest London. The quirky café will be serving you up a welcome drink while you pig out and, afterwards, they will be holding a Cheesy Pop Quiz with a £50 winners’ bar tab up for grabs. Tickets are £37.42. UK Coloured Pencil Society Exhibition

In late April, the Menier Gallery is welcoming the UK Coloured Pencil Society Exhibition to its floors. The exhibition will consist of a number of coloured pencil drawings by a variety of artists, featuring subjects ranging from people to animals to inanimate objects. The exhibition aims to promote the use of this medium and to support UK-based coloured pencil artists. Throughout the duration of the exhibition, several of the society members will be demonstrating ways to use coloured pencils. Keep updated via the Coloured Pencil Society website here.
