Rõla Wala, (meaning, ‘The Man that Rolls’ in Hindi) serves up some of the best Indian-inspired street food in the UK. Originally based in Leeds, founder, Mark Wright, has brought his amazing menu to London, and has just opened the brand’s first London restaurant in East London’s Spitalfields at the end of July.
After starting out in one of Britain’s lunchtime street food markets back in 2012, Mark Wright, has grown Rõla Wala into a small chain with fixed locations in both London and Leeds. Whilst the restaurant chain grows, the team still take part in street markets, festivals, and other food events across the year. It all started with Mark’s passion ‘to ignite spaces everywhere with incredible Indian flavours’ which has now grown into a huge success.
The menu at Rõla Wala is super simple and allows you to mix it up, so that each time you visit you can have a new experience. First, pick your base of a grain, veg or noodle bowl, or (our favourite!) naan, then add one of many delicious Indian fillings and then choose your preferred level of heat! The delicious naan rolls are now our favourite go-to lunch because of their (in the words of the Mark) ‘epic’ flavours. Plus, you never leave here hungry! Rõla Wala’s naan rolls and spice bowls are always filling, so you can rest assured that you won’t be snacking in the office later on.
The restaurant team pride themselves on catering to all food needs, offering gluten-free, low carb and vegan friendly options, with the added promise that no dish will have more than 500 calories. Music to our ears, and no need to feel guilty about heading here if you’re on the healthy-eating trend!
There are some big plans for Rõla Wala in the pipeline as they are due to open another restaurant in Westgate, Oxford and a Rõla Van in London – the exact location is still undisclosed, so watch this space!
