To get your weekend started early, spend your Thursday and Friday evenings at the Late Shift where you can unwind in the Late Shift Bar while enjoying their live music or explore more that the Gallery has to offer with talks and drop-in drawing sessions.
Late Shift features live sets from resident and guest DJs such as Ben Osborne, Eddie Otchere and Mr Madam. As nights vary so do their musical tastes with electronic sets, from classic techno, punk-funk, galactic house, to deep down and dirty disco to Otchere who plays a strictly vinyl set with an exclusive soundscape he’s crafted for the National Portrait gallery.
If you fancy a more cultured evening, you can engage in talks and discussions every Thursday night with guest artists, historians, philosophers and cultural commentators. You can even attend a free drop-in drawing class on a Friday with each session being led by a new artist. Feel free to drop in at any time, whatever your drawing ability, whether its for 2 mins to two hours! If you’re feeling confident, join their mass life-drawing class on the last Friday of every month
