Last night saw us join forces with the Londoneer at the amazing Stew House pop up in London Fields

Also accompanying us for the evening were our competition winners Laura Fenn and Steph Bamsey.

After a few minor issues finding the venue, the warm flicker of candlelight and the gentle hum of music told us we were in the right place. The Stew House’s entrance is a modest doorway positioned underneath a large, imposing building.

Most wouldn’t consider ‘cake’ baking as the driving force of an emerging patisserie subculture that’s circulating in cities up and down the country.

But, described as ‘a national idea‘ that has recently taken off in the wake of the success of television programmes such as ‘The Great British Bake Off’, there’s a secret movement evolving that has seen cake become the latest trend for the nation’s baking enthusiasts recently, with a wave of close knit members groups cropping up everywhere in the name of ‘cake.’
