As we’re sure you are all well aware by now, the Cutty Sark was finally re-opened by Her Majesty, The Queen last Wednesday.
Restored back to its original pomp and glory, the ship now sits majestically mounted in Greenwich, a testament to the history of this revered vessel and the affection for it from locals in the area.
The Cutty Sark is the world’s last surviving tea clipper and one of Britain’s ‘greatest maritime treasures‘. Londonist recently ventured down to check it out and had a lot of good things to say about her:
‘Viewed from underneath, the ship and glass canopy are astonishing. This is a vast improvement on the sorry looking clipper, marooned in a shabby dry dock, that we knew before the restoration and fire.’
Adding that ‘the ship’s golden keel and vast rigging are truly sights of wonder, and the repair work is splendid to see’, we are now dying to get down and see just what all the fuss is about; it looks like a tremendous way to see all the ins and outs of this magnificent ship.
So, all that said, we’re giving away a couple of free tickets to go and see the Cutty Sark for yourself. Just head over to twitter and the rest is easy!
