Nothing beats the colourful Christmas lights that appear every year at Carnaby Street! The old street in Central London lights up like no other, bringing you that festive feeling each and every time you’re there. The lights will be switched on on the 9th November – and you can expect a free street party to go with it! DJs such as Norma Jay will be gracing the street and all of the shops in Carnaby will be offering a 20% discount. It’s definitely a-goer! Throughout December, The Shard’s top will turn into a shining beacon; putting on it’s festive hat just in time for Christmas! The Shard will illuminate London’s skyline throughout the most festive month of the year. On the 4th December, the team at The Shard will be announcing a special theme to their Christmas light show. Each day, a different colour will fill up the capital’s sky from dusk till dawn. Expect different light patterns and sparkles, just like our very own, very huge Christmas tree right in the heart of the city!

The busiest shopping street in London, and one of the busiest in the world, will switch on their Christmas lights on the 7th November. This year the mile-long stretch that is Oxford Street will be lined with lights that will feel like ‘falling snowflakes’ as 1,778 baubles hang from the sky. As always, the switching on of the lights is a big occasion on the street, with singer Rita Ora topping the line up! This year, Oxford Street has partnered with NSPCC to raise awareness of the charity’s Christmas campaign.

The Covent Garden piazza is an unmissable area at this time of year. Mid-November, the entire courtyard will be filled with festivities, with decadent lights filling the area to make Christmas shopping a whole lot more magical! This year, Covent Garden will be lining up a mistletoe theme. Expect chandeliers, a massive amount of huge sparkling Christmas trees and, of course, mistletoe! The main part of the display will be a larger than life reindeer, greeting you from the east side of the courtyard. Don’t miss the switch on, which will be taking place 14th November!
