Win! A pair of tickets to En-Route at Stratford’s Theatre Royal
It is one of London’s great joys that you can live in the city your entire life and still be taken by surprise at something you walk past every day but may not have noticed.
It is this little gem that the makers of En Route from Stratford’s Theatre Royal have capitalised on as part of London’s Cultural Olympiad in East Village’s very surrounds. Rather than focusing on the area’s more recent changes, they have created a stripped-back mobile-phone based theatrical experience taking both strangers and visitors alike on an interactive tour of Stratford’s lesser-known charms.
You can take this day-time tour either alone or in groups of two or three, and will be sent a text message telling you where to turn up for the commencement of your tour. On arrival, you will then be sent off, given an iPod and headset and emergency numbers in case of “geographical, technical or psychological” issues.
We won’t spoil the journey for you but expect to see a great many contrasts on your experience, from the crumbled charm of the old East End to the glossy bustle of the new. You may be interrupted unexpectedly on your walk, whether by a text message, call or stranger; go with it and enjoy the show.
To invite London Living’s readers to get to know the surrounds of the village, we have three tickets to this theatrical experience, for this Saturday, to give away.
All you need to do, is let us know in the comments section below, what your favourite London hidden gem is. Our favourite entry will win the two tickets!
Good luck!

It’s not really a hidden gem, but when you’re there, you feel like you’re the only person who knows it exists! I’m talking about Zin Sushi in Greenwich – a tiny little restaurant (it feels more like a takeaway joint, with about 4 tables inside) that serves the best sushi in London.
It’s modest interior belies the goodness being created by the chefs behind the counter and when you sit down to start your meal, with the garish plastic chairs and tables around you, you might be fooled into thinking the food might follow suit. Wrong.
For a modest price, the grub is exceptional. Definitely worth a try, if you haven’t been already.
My favourite London hidden gem is the bohemian atmosphere cafe on the way to Lee Valley (I think it called ‘cornor’) Just grab a coffee or tea, I can enjoy my whole afternoon for sunshine, canal, and Olympic stadium view.
I got a few best places in mind but one that stick-out is the Meter in Old Street,EC1.
Good location, great space and the food is fan and great WIFI.
Do you know Haché? No? You can’t understand what is mean an hamburger!!!

My favourite hidden gem is Stave hill ecology park in Surrey Quays where you get a circular uninterrupted view of the south london skyline from the top of the hill, plus the steps to the top are very ‘Rocky’ esque when you are out for a jog
The Wallace Collection full of beautiful french furniture and pictures – a real gem
Behind a simple plain door in a pedestrian alley in East London lurks Wilton’s Music Hall. It’s an amazing grade 2 listed building that still functions as a theatre. Very difficult to describe it’s a building that deserves to be seen by far more people. Add to that some interesting productions set in this great building it really is a hidden gem.
