Summer might be coming to an end but that’s no excuse to lose that motivation to keep fit. The Fashion Run 2020 is the perfect way to keep up your fitness this September.
Running from the 18th – 22nd September, the virtual event encourages Londoners to run 5k whilst looking fashionably fabulous, all to raise money for 10 amazing charities.
Registration is only £25 and includes a donation to the British Fashion Council and you’ll receive a fabulous Julien MacDonald T-shirt. We sat down with Nick Ede, the man behind the idea to find out more.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
I run a PR Agency in London specialising in Social Change and Brand Experience. We work with clients including Jeans for Genes, Danish Refugee Council, Absolut Elyx and Recycle Your Electricals to name but a few. I am also lucky to have a broadcasting career that sees me as a regular on Good Morning Britain and many other shows internationally.
What inspired you to organise the event #FashionRun2020?
I was walking with a friend a few years ago and saw people in bibs who had run for charity and I said to her wouldn’t it be fab if people dressed up for a run rather than scraped their hair back etc. This seed then became something I thought could work as a really exciting experience – the Coachella of racing. I decided to launch it during lock down to see what the appetite would be and it keep costs down. We can build on it year on year and it can become, I hope a calendar event that everyone will want to be a part of.
Is this the first charity run you have organised?
Yes I am not really a runner – I have organised over a 500 charity events though! I love the idea of people getting glammed up to run- especially now as we are all a bit low with lockdown. This is a nice way of doing the three f’s as I call them – fashion, fitness and fundraising!
Can you tell us more about how the event works?
It’s simple you sign up, glam up and run – you can run 5k in one go or space it out but all you have to do it 5k before the end of London Fashion week the 22nd of September – this makes the event inclusive to all abilities which was very important to me.
Will you be taking part yourself? If so what outfit will you be wearing?
Yes of course I will! I have a fabulous sequinned jacket and jogging pants that will look fabulous as I run round Victoria park!
What was it like working with Julien Macdonald?
I have known Julien for a while now and he is one of the most generous people out there – to have him design our inaugural tee is great and really builds on our fashion credentials.

Do you have any tips for those taking part?
Yes just go with the flow – enjoy the experience and do something fun and good!

Have you got any other projects in the pipe line?
Yes I’m working on a new TV documentary which is very exciting, based on popular culture, so I am busy writing with my business partner who is based in Australia so that makes for lots of fun zooms.
In this strange world that we are living in right now dealing with COVID-19, what have you been doing to keep your spirits high, to look after your health and wellbeing?
I hit a bit of a low when lockdown started but I decided to challenge myself, as I felt I was putting on a lot of weight and also drinking a lot more than I would normally! I decided to enrol in the Six Pack Revolution – https://thesixpackrevolution.com. It’s a Facebook based programme that has taught me to make delicious healthy meals, exercise well and all you need is ropes and body weight. Its 75 days and I’m on day 50 and I feel, look and am much healthier than I was before. The founder Scott is really supportive and although I’m dying for a glass of Lady A, I would not have been able to commit to something like this if there hadn’t been a lockdown down so there is a silver lining! I just can’t wait to show my new figure off! Just need to find a beach that will let me!
Lastly, what would you say your favourite thing about London is?
London before lockdown was just full of so much life, excitement and things to do and see. Since we are coming out of it, its been interesting to see how people and London itself has evolved and changed with the times. I love it for constantly moving, opening up lots of exciting possibilities for those who live here!
