Have you heard of the Gingerline? They have been creating immersive dining experiences in hidden spots around London since 2010 and they are back again with Chamber of Flavours, an anything but ordinary immersive eating experience for the brave and the bold!
We went along to see what all the fuss is about and whilst we don’t want to give too many secrets away, make sure you read on to see what magical mystery awaits…
At around 4pm on the day of our reservation, we received a text message with directions of how to arrive at the new Chamber of Flavours venue – note: this is always somewhere along the overground (ginger) line. After arriving at our destination we grabbed ourselves a few drinks at the bar and joined our small group who we would spend our dining experience with. We were transported into an adventure which included five flavoursome courses, a palate cleanser, a welcome drink plus 120 minutes of playful explorations through five different dining dimensions (and weird and wacky ones at that!). You can expect incredible sets from the absurd reaches of the imagination, populated by a host of mischievous and entertaining characters.
The food is designed for those who are relaxed about what and how they eat. The menus are not Michelin style hoity toity, they are accessible and flavourful, fresh, feastly and fun. What is more, the food service is interactive and creative – so make sure you’re open minded. All Gingerline food is produced by their incredible food partner and sister company Flavourology. Flavourology’s chefs are exceptionally talented at producing a wide range of different styles and cuisines, even inventing new ones. The precise menu you will receive on the day will be kept secret, but be assured that they can accommodate almost all dietary requirements and allergies, as long as they are provided at the time of booking.
Lastly, bright coloured clothing was encouraged to be worn on the day. We would recommend not wearing high heels or a skirt – the comfier the better as you move from room to room in obscure ways e.g. through small spaces, upstairs, crawling and sliding. And don’t worry, for guests with mobility requirements, you can always email Gingerline to discuss the best option for you and your friends ahead of your booking.
