December is almost upon us, and London is already looking very festive. Last week we featured our favourite Ice Skating Rinks in the city, but if it’s seasonal photos for the ‘gram you’re after, then you’ll want to check out our Top 5 Christmas lights across London this year!
Greenwich Market Christmas Lights

Switch On: Wednesday 21stNovember, 4pm-6pm
Tucked away from central London, Greenwich Market boasts unique stalls from food and drink to quirky Christmas gifts. Every year the market is beautifully lit with intricate snowflake-like decorations, filling the entirety of the market! To top it off, there’s also an exciting lantern parade taking place through Greenwich. Four schools within the area will parade handmade lanterns, led by a Trinity Laban Jazz Band, beginning through the Old Royal Naval College grounds and finishing in the market ready for the big switch-on. This locally led (and completely free!) event is a must-see. Or even just Greenwich Market itself, it’s an intimate Christmassy vibe that’s worth experiencing!
Carnaby Street Christmas Lights
Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus
Carnaby Street has certainly outdone itself this year with an array of vibrant Christmas lights to fill the streets! The neon lights pay tribute to beautiful song lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody. Not forgetting, of course, the decorative lights of “SoHo Ho Ho” on Foubert’s Place and Beak Street. Take a walk through the elegantly lit Kingly Court too, you won’t regret it. With regular events happening all throughout the festive months, Soho is the place to be this December. We’re sure to be feeling merry and bright belting out Queen songs along Carnaby Street like there’s no tomorrow, so don’t miss out!
Covent Garden Christmas Lights
Covent Garden Market

It wouldn’t be Christmas without mistletoe, and Covent Garden is completely covered with the iconic festive foliage.40 of these glittering decorations are spread across the entirety of the historical market, alongside nearly 700 berries to match. Covent Garden isn’t messing around with their display, integrating it well within the classic layout of the market, allowing for some seriously cute photos with friends and family under the mistletoe. Pucker up and get down to this cheesy delightful Christmassy display this December!
Regent Street Christmas Lights
Nearest Tube: Bond Street
Regent Street has been beautifully decorated with suspended decorations, twinkling across the entire street, into the distance. Every year, the street is covered in ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ lights, drawing inspiration upon the street’s first ever Christmas lights in Central London in 1954. We’re definitely ones for tradition, and fully appreciate the history behind London festivities, with each spirit looking bolder and brighter each and every year they appear. Take a walk down Regent Street to appreciate this picturesque display.
Southbank Christmas Lights

Each year Southbank impresses us with their colourful Christmas lights. It’s also home to the Southbank Winter Festival by the Thames. The riverside festival features wonderful pop-up eateries and market stalls. Sip on some hot mulled wine whilst admiring the beautiful Christmas lights above your head, glittering along one of London’s finest walkways. If the mulled wine isn’t tempting enough, the festival features child-friendly activities – perfect for all the family.
