As we enter November, it’s time to embrace the winter months ahead. We don’t know about you, but we’re excited for winter warmer drinks, cosy scarfs and yummy cinnamon muffins! So, to help, we’ve put together some great winter activities in the city to help you get into the festive spirit.

Join in the procession in honour of the newly elected Lord Mayor of London. The Lord Mayor will set off on their journey through the city from Westminster in a flotilla – it’s a must see! The procession will kick off from Mansion House at 11am, heading towards the Royal courts. For the best view of the show, book yourself a place in the grandstands, above the crowds at St Paul’s Cathedral, here. The day will come to an end with a special display of fireworks from 5:15pm, shooting into the sky over the Thames between Blackfriars and Waterloo.

Nothing gets us in the mood for the season more than a winter movie! We’re talking, snowy scenes, Christmas bangers and a touch of magic. With that, what better way to watch a winter movie than in the incredible experience that Backyard Cinema design? This year the Winter Night Garden returns for Christmas!
Enter a magical wardrobe, head through a secret tunnel of trees and walk into an enchanted wood – sound familiar?! You’re sure to have a magical movie experience, seated on a comfy bean bag or sofa with a winter warmer of your choice. Plus, plenty of winter-themed snacks to accompany your viewing experience! Hurry and pick your favourite film before tickets sell out!

Spend a day or evening at this winter favourite – the ever-popular winter festival at Southbank. We can always rely on this to get us in the festive spirit. If you’ve never been or heard of this winter market (where have you been?!), expect unique artisan gifts, delicious winter dishes/snacks/foods and mulled wine.
There will be lots of fun pop-ups and activities with a Nordic theme that all the family will enjoy. Anticipate the season’s favourite songs performed by choirs and orchestras, and fun workshops for the little ones to get involved in too!
If you’re needing more of a winter warmer, head up to the Queen Elizabeth Roof Terrace for the new Nordic Sauna – specially designed with the best of Finland and London combined. Enter the hottest Helsinki saunas (it lives up to the hype!), with a stunning view of the River Thames to go with it. Bliss.

Get into the festive season at Here East, with their Merry Making evening. Find that unique gift for your family and friends as you stroll around the spectacular gift market, with a diverse range of unique high quality products. There will be boutique stalls from local businesses in women and men’s fashion, children’s wear, toys and accessories, arts and crafts, homeware and decor, gourmet food and produce. What more could you ask for?!
At 6pm, join Here East as they kick off to the winter season with an unveiling of the Makers Project art installation in the Steel Mill. This highly anticipated exhibition was curated by ‘Further Art’, a collaboration between artists Jamie Barrett – FUTURETRO and Seth Beer. For the rest of the evening, you can enjoy music and refreshments in all the Here East reception areas, get to know the local community and be the first to get a snap of their beautiful Christmas decorations!
