Over at London Living we were lucky enough to be invited to a very special blogger evening at the trendy new Stratford East Dane’s Yard Kitchen.
The restaurant has only been open two weeks but has already made its mark in Stratford after being the venue of choice for the Olympic closing ceremony after party. We headed down there to hang out with some friendly east London bloggers for burgers, cocktails and a game or two of ping pong.
The restaurant is situated right next to the new Strand East tower, which is pretty hard to miss, especially when the brightly coloured flashing lights come on as soon as the sun goes down.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a refreshing mojito, big juicy olives, spicy nuts and some amazing light and fluffy fried chickpeas. A good start.
After lining our stomachs we moved outside to the yard to show off our mad ping pong skills (we spent more time chasing the ball than actually playing, but it was still fun).
Ping pong is thirsty work; luckily as we went back into the bar area we were greeted with Dane’s Yard special cocktail called ‘The Strand East’ – a delicious mix of Grey Goose Vodka and some other fruity delights which we can’t quite remember (we can remember that it was superb though).
After all that running around for the ping pong ball we had worked up quite an appetite, especially with the smell of burgers wafting through the restaurant from the open plan kitchen.
Once seated in the dining area with the other bloggers we were served a colossal sized burger, with a side of fries and coleslaw.
Whilst we ate we had a chance to get to know some of the awesome bloggers who had also been invited along. We chatted to Ben and Fliss from Where That Ben Went, who told us about all the fantastic places they had visited in London over the past year – check out their blog if you’re stuck for something to do this weekend.
Although stuffed from the main course we still found room to sample the puddings, our highlight being the vanilla Panna Cotta.
A sweet end to a mega fun night. Big thanks to Tony at Dane’s Kitchen Yard for having us!
If you’re looking for a cool, laid back venue for a group of friends in need of cocktails then definitely check this place out.
