It’s one year on from the London 2012 Olympics, and this summer sees something great happening in Bath: The Special Olympics National Games. This year, over 1700 athletes from 150 UK clubs are expected to partake in the National Summer Games, making the Special Olympics the largest multi-sport disability event of the year.
The Games are supported by coaches, event volunteers, and sports officials, including members of the London Olympic team, who have had vital funding from East Village so that they can attend the Special Olympics and bring their Olympic legacy with them.
The competition, will be taking place from 28th August – 1st September, in the beautiful city
of Bath and is free for anyone to attend. It will play host to 12 sports, from aquatics, football, and tennis to athletics and gymnastics.
The National Summer Games provides an important role in supporting the shift in attitude towards those with disabilities, and gives those who partake a chance to show the country what they are made of.
To celebrate East Village’s sponsorship of the London team for the Special Olympics, we are offering one reader and their friend the opportunity to win a trip to Bath to attend the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics. Our lucky winner and their guest will have dinner Yammo!, one of Bath’s top restaurants and spend the night in Dukes hotel. They will also have the unique opportunity to write a special guest post about their experience for London Living. So if you like the sound of that and fancy yourself as a budding blogger, just post your answer to the question below in our comments section with your name and email address.
