Since the London 2012 Olympics, the Olympic Park’s Copper Box Arena has been used for all kinds of different sports – from basketball and badminton to netball and wheelchair rugby. But come February, the Stratford venue will see a whole new game take to its floors involving celebrities throwing and dodging boob-shaped balls at each other, in aid of breast cancer awareness charity, Coppafeel! And frankly, we can’t wait.
The idea for this glorious event was born when Kris, founder of Coppafeel!, lobbed a boob ball at comedian Russell Howard’s face on live TV (check it out here!). Inspired by this moment, on the 1 February the charity will host a celebrity dodgeball game with multiple boob balls to both create more of these magical moments and, more importantly, raise awareness for this fantastic charity.
Grabbing the game by the boobs will be a whole host of famous faces including Russell Howard (as one boob to the face just wasn’t enough for him), Radio 1 DJ and CoppaFeel! patron, Greg James, TOWIE star Mario Falcone and McBusted’s Tom Fletcher. We’re expecting an electric atmosphere, some prize-worthy dodges and some very competitive celebrities fighting for the title of Boob Ball champions.
Other than the fact that this will be a (very) entertaining occasion to witness, we can’t forget the poignant reason why CoppaFeel! does what it does. Kris set the charity up back in 2009, a month after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 23 years old. With a focus on promoting early detection of breast cancer, the charity’s main emphasis is on encouraging people to regularly check their breasts in a mission to save more lives.
As well as the Celebrity Boob Ball, CoppaFeel! will also be encouraging you to #GetABoobOn at their other events this year, which include a Silent Disco Dash on the 22nd May and The Hilly Hundred on the 25th September. The Boob Ball will take place on the 1st February at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, E20 3HB. Tickets are just £10 but are expected to sell out quick so make sure to get yours now from: Event Brite.
All proceeds from the entry fee will go to CoppaFeel! and the amazing work they do.
