From Lost Vegas to Skyehalla, from Moroccan Medinas to ukulele-soundtracked tributes to Dr Strange, the residents of Hoxton have experienced it all – thanks to their local rooftop bonanza The Queen of Hoxton. And of course, this winter will be no different, as the East End favourite slips into the garments of Lady Celeste’s. The rooftop’s new façade promises to bring Montmartre’s dramatically seductive back corners to London’s skyline in this luxe speakeasy – a strong contender for our festive season banquets.

The cozy little spot, infused with the grit and glam of 1900’s Paris, opened its doors on October 25th, early enough to cement its status as an East London sweet spot of debauchery and decadence for the cold winter nights to come. Designed to resemble a bohemian music hall, the space channels all the Moulin Rouge-esque opulence, even complete with a true Parisian feast. From the punny Moulin Ruse vegan burger to the more traditional Moulin Ooze croque monsieur, raclette-style dishes will keep you warm through the night of French glamour. Fittingly, you can wash it all down with a perfectly crafted mix of cocktails, with the likes of the Hot Buttered Tarte Tatin Rum and the Sloe French 75 standing out. Mulled port and wine cocktails are also available for the less adventurous more responsible.
Of course, no Parisian spectacle would be complete without an abundance of red velvet, cabaret and a seriously tempting absinthe fountain. A romantic setting fit for aristocrats and rebellious bohemians alike, soundtracked by poetry and accordions fit for Montmartre’s enchantingly dangerous nights. Think excess, culture, romance, grandeur and more, much more as you slip into East London’s velvet nights. The brains behind the wigwam are also promising us surrealist life drawing, nights of cabaret, marshmallows and fire pits and the quintessential tarot readers. Looking for an after-work catch-up or a direct dive into the perils of the speakeasy? Queen of Hoxton has got you covered. Now that’s what we call a perfect start of the boozy season!
