London Grilling: Detox with Alana

January 14, 2021

This week we were lucky enough to interview Alana, founder of Detox with Alana ahead of her 7 day Detox Retreat which launches on Monday 18th January, who is offering 50% off the usual £129 for London Living readers! If you’re guilty of over indulging at Christmas and lots of comfort eating in lockdown, it couldn’t be a better time to start your detox…

Thank you so much for talking to us today. Can you tell us a bit more about your 7 day detox retreat?

My 7 day DETOX RETREAT is a detox you can do from the comfort of your own home…supported with a group of like-minded individuals and myself guiding you through the process step by step. The week before I the detox starts I will provide you with all your need such as pre-detox guide, shopping lists, recipes, FAQ’S, daily schedules etc. – for first timers I also offer a 15 minute call discussing any concerns you may have. The day before the detox starts the group has a welcome Zoom which gives everyone a chance to introduce themselves and get to know each other – I usually share my detox story and what led me to being a detox coach and setting up DETOX WITH ALANA.

Throughout the week we all support each other and share how we’re feeling using a Whatsapp group, I also have a closed Facebook group where we can share ideas, thoughts and how we are getting on.

Every night at 8.30pm we all come together for our daily ZOOM workshop which are different each day and include Inspirational Talks (For example, Detox Mind-set, The Detoxification process and Life after Detox), Meditation, Yoga, EFT (tapping), Soundbaths and Guided Meditations.

Since it started in June I have had many repeat ‘detox queens’ as I like to call them…. which is great as they really support the newbies in the group and share their experiences and motivate the group. The detox ends on a Sunday with a Guided Meditation & Inspirational talk and I also invite the group to share how the detox went for them and how they feel. Also before I forget the DETOX RETREAT is not only for woman and I try and encourage men to join…. last month we had our first GUY to the group, which was great as it was really nice to add some male energy to the group.

As well as your 7 day detox retreat, do you have any other programmes?

I offer a coaching packages where I guide you through the detox on a one to one basis supporting you closely throughout. I am currently in the process of setting up some more exciting residential detox retreats as well as a 5 day detox challenge….so keep any eye on my website and Instagram for news!

In brief what is your background and what inspired you to enter this area of work?

I used to be a PR Consultant for FMCG brands like Yakult and Tetley Tea…..after a traumatic divorce which resulted in years of chronic depression, I discovered the powerful healing affect detoxing had on my mind and it changed my life. I became so passionate about detoxing and the affect it had on my life that I decided to train to be a detox coach at The Lifeco (Detox centre famous among A-listers). During the first lockdown I started noticing I was feeling anxious/fearful, I started eating badly and my mood dipped….I decided I had to do something about it so I asked my followers on Instagram and Facebook friends to join me on a DETOX where we could support each other….It went so well that I started doing them every month – 6 months later DETOX WITH ALANA was born!

Why do you think health and wellness are so important?

Our health is all we have – without a healthy body to carry us through life….what is the alternative? Many people wait until sickness comes to focus on their health and sadly sometimes it’s too late. As part of my role as a Detox coach at The Lifeco Thailand I worked with many cancer patients. Some sadly at the end of their lives and it had a profound effect on me. I want to live a long and happy life where I feel full of vitality… even in my older years and by focusing on my health and making my wellness a priority NOW is the only way I will fulfil this dream!

What have you been doing personally to help get through the last few months? Any tips for getting through lockdown 3.0?

I have to say this time round I am finding it quite mentally challenging and in order to get through it I make sure I have a routine, I get out for walks every day, I try to switch off from the news and mainstream media AND of course I juice everyday as well as do my 7 day detox every month. I have an 18 month year old so he keeps me real busy which is a blessing!

What are your favourite places in London to go and unwind?

My favourite place to unwind in London is White City House (part of Soho House) – during the summer mornings you’ll usually find me swimming pool with my son, I also love to relax and enjoy the spa and gym. Right now with everything closed, I love getting wrapped up warm and have a stroll in Holland Park grabbing a Turmeric Latte from ‘Joe and The Juice’ on the way!

How can London Living readers access the detox retreat?

I have a detox retreat starting this Monday 18th….so if you would like to join email me at info@detoxwithalana.com and quote the code DETOX LONDON 21 for 50% off. For more information go to my website www.detoxwithalana.com.

Have you got any other events coming up that you’d like to tell London Living followers about?

Right now I’m planning on a DETOX retreat in the Lake District…which is my absolute favourite place to go hiking in the UK! Please keep an eye on my website for more info!
