We’ve hit the festive season with a bang, and it’s all things go with Christmas party plans, shopping sessions and all kinds of festivities filling our diaries. All aboard the Christmas party boat! Canal Party Club bring you boat parties throughout the year, but this December you can hire your own boat for a Christmas special. Grab a group of mates and head on down to Regent’s Canal for your very own Christmas cruise! You can bring your own food, drinks and music so grab the mince pies, the mulled wine and dust off that Christmas megamix album – it’s a great way to enjoy a festive afternoon with friends!

This one is exactly what it says on the tin: it’s a race, full of Christmas Puddings, and it’s totally great! If you’re up for a bit of fun this December, this is a must – whether you’re participating or spectating. In a true feat of festive athleticism, teams get together, don their best festive outfits and race around an obstacle course in Covent Garden’s piazza whilst balancing Christmas Puddings on flimsy plates! Guaranteed to be hugely entertaining and all for a great cause, it’s a brilliant family event in the run up to Christmas.

Head 80m up into the sky, away from the hustle and bustle of Westfield Stratford City, and take a welcome break from the Christmas shopping for a spot of High Tea. There’s no better time for indulgence than over the festive period, so it’s a temptation not to be missed – with only a few dates to choose from. With all the classic sandwiches, cakes, pastries and scones you’d expect, it’s a perfect retreat once you’ve done all the shopping you can handle on a busy December weekend!

Why not take an expedition to the South Pole this December? The South Pole of London that is! Brixton is hosting the city’s latest drinking and feasting pop-up in the form of the South Pole Saloon. In a heated and covered area decked out to create an immersive experience, you can expect some weird and wonderful festive entertainment as well as all the food and drink you can manage from some of London’s best street food vendors. Perfect to kick off a Christmas night out!

You heard it here first, the only way to keep warm this December is to take part in a Festive Fun Run at East London’s Olympic Park! With a 2k and a 5k course, the run is open to participants of all ages, making this a brilliant family event to enjoy the week before Christmas. There’s a goody bag and medal up for grabs for everybody who crosses the finishing line, and even better is the dress code: as festive as possible! Register on the day at the Timber Lodge Café.

Have a different Christmas morning this year! Out in Hyde Park, the Serpentine Swimmer’s Club have been swimming in a Christmas morning race for 152 years…come and cheer them on! Racing for the prestigious ‘Peter Pan Cup’, originally donated by novelist J. M. Barrie in 1904, the race is now a tradition which continues year on year. So if you’re a London local that might be taking a Christmas Day walk, it’s worth popping by!
2016 is upon us, and with London’s world-renowned Thames-side fireworks display on offer we can’t help but recommend it as a must-see! Increasing in popularity every single year, the city’s spectacular fireworks display is rivalled in other capital cities across the world. It’s a bucket-list experience for many to be there watching the show in person at the stroke of midnight, so if you want to be there this year you MUST get a ticket!
