Are you in the mood for jolly festivities? Then come on down to Here East’s (free!) Merrymaking Christmas Market, kicking off Christmas in style with quirky market stalls and fun activities for all the family!
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Nearest Station: Stratford International
Opening Hours: 28thNovember, 5pm-8pm
Here East will be all jazzed up with Christmas decorations and encouraging a friendly, festive spirit throughout the afternoon. There will be fun-filled markets with stalls boasting unique, handmade items from 30 up and coming talented designers and creators from London. From clothing to crockery, you’re bound to tick an item off your Christmas gift list! Food and drink stands will also be outside to keep you well fed and watered, so why not sip on some hot spiced cider and indulge on mouth-watering raclette from Le Rac Shack? We’ll certainly be doing the same!
Merrymaking Christmas Market will also have some exciting crafting workshops dotted around, including `Origami 4 Fun’s Festive Origami Workshop’ and ‘Hello Marilu’s Festive Hand-Painted Bauble Workshop’. Both events are free (yay!) with all materials provided and for children of any ability. You can drop-in anytime during the afternoon to create some wonderful decorations such as origami trees, reindeers and wreaths. They’re perfect to keep for yourself or as a gift to your nearest and dearest (“look mum, here’s what I made!”). It’s important to note the Origami Workshops will run for 50 minutes from 4-7pm, with 10-minute breaks between classes.
If you’re after a family-friendly afternoon browsing and supporting local London designers, sipping on hot cider and going home with an elegantly handmade bauble or origami wreath, then be sure to check out Merrymaking Christmas Market – you won’t be disappointed.
