While Easter weekend may not have been as spring-like as we’d hoped, the season is most definitely on its way – and Forman’s Smokehouse Gallery, with its amazing views over the canal over to the Olympic Stadium, is officially celebrating the arrival of the new season.
A totally unique space, Forman’s Smokehouse is spread over 600 square metres of floor space and is set on the top floor of the UK’s oldest salmon smokers, H Forman & Son.
Forman’s Smokehouse Gallery and East Village London in collaboration with Art Catcher Ltd. have collated works by 50 artists from Great Britain and beyond, working in painting, printmaking, photography, collage, moving image and sculpture, to express an unusual and delightful array of interpretations of the season.
It’s not for nothing that First Thursdays have listed Spring at the Smokehouse as one of their five must-see exhibitions of the month – we’ve had a look at the pieces, many of which are also for sale, and they are absolutely stunning – uplifting, positive and colourful – just as an exhibition about spring should be!
So if you’re still suffering from the winter blues and need a bit of inspiration – or a splash of colour on your walls – hotfoot it down to Hackney Wick!
Exhibition runs from 5th April – 6th May. Our thanks to Artcatcher and the artists for use of the images.
