Top 5 Free Online Dance Classes

June 19, 2020

Who doesn’t love a good boogie? Whether you’re a dancing queen or have two left feet, dancing allows us to feel free. It also triggers endorphins, wonderful natural chemicals that reduce our perception of pain and bring on the positive vibes.

Now more than ever, it’s not a bad idea to keep our bodies moving. That’s why we’ve selected our top 5 free online dance classes for you to move your feet to. All you need is a device and your God-given body. Take a look:

The Move with Colour YouTube channel puts the fun back into dancing, whilst teaching you a trick or two along the way. With videos entitled Festival Banger, Jive Turkey and Ugly Zumba, you’d be lying if you said you weren’t intrigued. There are routines for every level of dancer, from beginners to masterclasses for the more experienced. We’d recommend Britney Bitch for 10 minutes of pure unadulterated joy.

Full class 6/6 with @lexi.michelle_dancer as today’s #saturdaysoloist. I am committed to listening, learning and supporting black voices. I want to lift up my fellow artists in every way I can and a few students suggested dancing to a playlist of all black artists. I loved this idea and we had an incredible class today dancing to a playlist of black musicians singing blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. #turnitoutwithtiler I do not own the rights to this music. 🎵: @realbillwithers @ninasimone Mario @jasonderulo James Brown Jazmine Sullivan @steviewonderlegacy @arethafranklin @aliciakeys Ray Charles Tracy Chapman @mariahcarey @whitneyhouston @beyonce @ettajamesofficial @johnlegend

For those of you looking for a more traditional outlet, check out ballet dancer Tiler Peck’s Instagram. Peck is a principal dancer at New York City Ballet and also author of Children’s book Katarina Ballerina. She does live Instagram classes from her kitchen at 5pm (GMT) every day, often to nice smooth jazz music. The classes factor in different levels from beginner upwards so there’s no excuse not to try out a little plié.

midline and pelvic stabilisation, extensor training & feet articulation. these are some of my favourite dance conditioning exercises which make me feel poised and elegant.

FKA Twigs is the sort of performer that is so magical, it’s hard to believe she is human. It’s not just her singing that’s impressive; it’s her art, her moves and the fact she’s a legit pole dancer. Alongside very impressive videos of Twigs pole dancing in her living room, her Insta boasts several yoga and stretch classes via IGTV so we can get a glimpse of just how she does it! Entitled pull me in, lift me up and turn me on – how can you say no?
