Top Five: Half term activities for the family

They’re back at home again! Which means one week of keeping those tantrums aside and filling your days with lots of family activities. From sleepovers to screenings, we’ve picked five activities that are sure to keep your little ones entertained this half term in London! Go on, check them out and prepare yourself for a jam-packed week.

Virtually Blackfriars

19-21 October, 12.30pm & 6pm

Take your kids on a tour around Blackfriars with Virtually Blackfriars! In a real-life mission to help catch rogue characters from the past, your little ones will be armed with a futuristic detection device to track down the likes of Frankenstein to Boudicca.  It’s a cross between Minecraft and Pokémon Go, with a dash of Horrible Histories thrown in! The Gruffalo’s Child with London Philharmonic Orchestra

The Gruffalo’s Child is the sequel to everybody’s favourite, The Gruffalo! This half term, you and all of the family can experience the magical movie played on a big screen with a live musical performance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. London’s Night Owls Halloween Sleepover

27 October, 6.30pm

Ever wondered what happens in a museum when the doors close for the night? Now’s your chance to find out! At the Night Owls Halloween Sleepover, you can expect to be spooked by terrifying tales from 19th century London, including the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Don your scariest Halloween costume while you trick or treat around the galleries by torchlight.. Once your adventures are over, you can settle in for the night under the roof of the Museum of London before enjoying a bright and early breakfast and a morning screening of Disney’s Hocus Pocus. The Shard – Kids Go Free!

If you haven’t visited The View from The Shard already, then this half term is the perfect opportunity to do so. Take to the skies and see the glorious London view from the top of The Shard with the whole family, because kids go free throughout half term! For every adult ticket sold, two of your kids can go free. The promotion is in conjunction with the new film, Paddington 2, who will be running a treasure hunt in the skies, where your kids can search for missing marmalade sandwiches! Six Day London at Lee Valley VeloPark

This October, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will welcome back the Six Day Series for the third year in a row, hosting some of the world’s best cyclists who are set to compete in a variety of sprint and endurance competitions across the six day event. Along with the six nights of world-class racing, Six Day London will also be hosting top musical entertainment and special guest presenters.
