Top Five: Indoor Activities to Combat April Showers

Will the rain ever stop? Our track record for weather has not been the best, we’ve had too many drizzly days for one year. However, do not fear city dwellers- it can only get better from here. But just in case we do have a few more pour downs we’ve gathered some activities you can do indoors. So, spring into action and get out and about (but indoors!) to the best events in London this month.

5th – 15th April

The annual video gaming festival is back! This spring get involved with hands-on activities, talks, showcases and a parade at the biggest games festival this year. There will be over 40 events across 30 London venues, celebrating the art, culture and business of gaming. On the 7th April get down to Trafalgar Square Games festival to learn about eSports and augmented reality games or spot your favourite gaming mascots and heroes in the Game parade on the 14th April. T-Shirt: Cult- Culture- Subversion

What’s your tee game like? If you pride yourself over what t-shirts you wear day to day then head over to the Cult- Culture- Subversion Exhibition. Here you’ll be able to journey through the 20th Century of what it was like to be a T shirt and what role it had on the generation at the time. The exhibition will feature a private collection of Vivienne Westwood t-shirts from the early days of Let It Rock, Sex and Seditionaries. You’ll certainly be inspired after this installation. Get the ultimate and quite out the ordinary cinema experience at Backyard Cinema. Now one of the most recognisable alternative ways to watch a movie has set up shop in the Italian market, Mercato Metropolitano. Here it’s not just about watching a screen but journeying through the physical and playful surroundings that mimic the film, creating an immersive experience. This month, is their Mission to Mars theme cinema club. Hurry! Tickets for the month’s shows are selling out fast.

Love Coffee? Then you’ll love this festival dedicated to the hot drink you can’t live without. The largest artisan coffee event is back in this vibrant city- featuring live music, talks, demonstrations and master classes you’ll be full of beans over the four-day event. So, grab your mates and your tickets and head down to the Truman Brewery for an unforgettable experience.

Our final festival of our top picks this month is the East End Film Festival, EEFF. Founded in 2000, the EEFF is one of the UK’s largest film festivals. “It presents a rich and diverse programme of international premieres, industry masterclasses with free pop-up screenings and immersive live events”, attracting thousands of people to discover and support local and global work taking audiences on a cinematic journey.
