We can’t help but feel like excited children whenever Pancake Day comes around. There’s something about eating a dessert for dinner that feels very rebellious, and the act of extravagantly tossing our food into the air is still just as exciting as when we were 10 years old. So whether you like them wafer thin or fat and fluffy, slathered in syrup or simply savoury – it’s time to set your inner child free and start stuffing your faces!
The Book Club
100 – 106 Leonard Street, EC2A 4RH
If your mouth is watering just at the sight of this pancake platter then you may want to take a trip to The Book Club this Tuesday. The guys at this trendy Shoreditch space are hosting an all-day pancake party in their basement bar where they’ll be serving up tongue tantalising and Instagram-worthy stacks including these deep-friend pancakes with salted caramel rum sauce, banana whipped cream and Nutella. There will, of course, also be gluten-free options and guests can even take part in their ‘Great British Flip Off’ challenge to see how many flips they can complete in a minute.
1 Rivington Place, EC2A 3BA
If you and your other half are divided by thin, crispy crepes vs. thick, fluffy pancakes, you should definitely head to Shutterbug this Tuesday. Serving pancake styles from both sides of the pond, you’ll have the choice of everything from salted caramel and flaked almond crepes, blueberry and bacon American pancakes to buckwheat flour galettes (savoury crepes) with mushroom and truffle oil. Pick your preferred pancake style and match it with one of their delicious cocktails and you’ve got yourself a pretty special meal!
