If there’s one thing we’re sure of, it’s that winter has slowly but surely arrived. After a warmer than usual November and December, we’re definitely feeling the chill now! Instead of opting for hibernation, get wrapped up and head out to London’s Southbank to find an array of activities to keep you warm, happy and entertained this winter.

The National Theatre, Southbank, SE1 9PX
Until 30 April 2016
If there’s anywhere to keep entertained (and warm!) this winter, it’s at the theatre. And for theatre with a difference, wonder.land offers the perfect opportunity. Billing itself as Alice in Wonderland for the online generation, the new musical is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s traditional story but with a modern day edge. Live theatre meets digital technology to create a dazzling show that speaks to teenagers everywhere, so if you have a family with older kids we’d wholly recommend it. House of Vans, Arches 228-232 Station Approach Road, SE1
29 January – 21 February
If you’re looking for something a little more artsy, there’s a brilliant new interactive sound installation landing at House of Vans on the 29th January. A collaboration between award-winning designers Studio PSK and musician Reeps One, the installation aims to bring back the joy of the playground by combining swings, slides and climbing frames with musical engineering. A playground which is a giant musical instrument? Sounds like fun to us! And it’s free, so make sure you head on down this February.
Southbank Centre Food Market

Returning from the 22nd January, the Southbank Centre Food Market was one of the best new arrivals to Southbank last year – and we can’t wait to see what flavoursome delights will be on offer this time! Whatever your weekends may have in store for the rest of the winter, a riverside wander down Southbank and a pit-stop for some warming food at the market is always a winner. Get a sneak peek of what will be on offer each week on the market’s Twitter page. Our stomachs are already rumbling.
