The kids only went back to school a few weeks ago, and now October half term is already around the corner! And we all know the trouble that is keeping the little ones entertained all week, especially in the colder months. So we thought we’d give you a helping hand with our top five picks of the best events and activities going on for children this half term.

Education Centre, Hyde Park, W2 2UH
Get ready for some hair-raising fun in Hyde Park in the approach to Halloween weekend! The Discovery Centre in the park will be host to an array of free and exciting Halloween-themed activities including a fascinating nature trail, ‘feely boxes’ that you can put your hand into to discover unknown things (if you dare!), and magical potion creation. Feel free to get dressed up to join in the Halloween theme, all you have to do is show up between 11am-3pm on the day.

26 – 27 October
Open to children of all ages and abilities, this half term brings a whole host of inclusive disability sports to Olympic Park! The free sessions on offer will allow the kids to have a go at sports they might not have tried before like Inclusive Tennis, New Age Kurling and Sitting Volleyball. There’s loads of fun to be had, and the Timber Lodge Café nearby is the perfect place to refuel and refresh with lunch afterwards. Session will run from 11.30am – 4.30pm each day, just head down to be a part of it!

24 – 28 October
For any kids with an imagination that can’t ever stop running wild, this is the ideal activity. Down at the Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford, A Line Art will be running an immersive theatre show aimed at 3-9 year olds and their family. The show involves toolkits, cars, colouring and driving and promises to be lots of interactive fun! If your little ones are arty, crafty and imaginative – this one’s a winner.

If you fancy a day trip to the outskirts of London this half term, we’ve got the perfect spot. For a magical experience for all the family this half term, head to Stratford’s Arts Centre to see the beautiful Bedtime Stories. The show includes stunning circus performances, dazzling projections, beautiful dance all accompanied by atmospheric music to complete the bedtime experience.
