Top Reads to kick off your virtual book club

April 17, 2020

At a time where our front rooms are becoming all-too-familiar, reading offers a welcome opportunity to be transported out of our homes and into another world. Sometimes, all we need is a cuppa and a good book.

While the best novels offer solace and distraction, they’re also a great way to maintain connection with your pals. Virtual book clubs are popping up here, there and everywhere, so we thought we’d give you some inspo for starting your own. Here are our top book recommendations to get you started:

 The Flat Share

The Flat Share is a story that’s pretty relatable right now; a story of two people living in close quarters yet in many ways, living worlds apart. Comprising of demanding work schedules, explosive ex-boyfriends and comic misunderstanding, O’ Leary’s debut novel has all the clamour and magic that we deserve. You can purchase it here and thank us later.

Blood Orange

Hot off the press this year, Blood Orange is a book guaranteed to leave you in suspense. It follows the life of attorney Allison who seemingly has it all, a doting family and a fast-paced career, yet what lies beneath is far from flawless. Through unsettling parallels between Allison’s own life and the life of her defendant, author Harriet Tyce blurs the lines between guilt and innocence.

Grown Ups

Marian Keyes’ latest novel gets to the heart of a question many of us ask ourselves: Is it finally time to grow up? It shines a light on the frustrations and gripes of family life, while inviting us to laugh at the petty reality of it all. Casualties unfold, secrets are revealed and drama ensues … This book will certainly give you a lot to talk about.
